If you are interested in Coal Speak (Afterall, this is a coal mining town), then read this:
Everyone in Locust Dale is a "Daler". If you live up the road from Locust Dale, you're a "patcher" because that's where the company owned houses are (or were). If you live down the road from da Dale, you're a "down roader". Example: "He's a down roader from da Dale".

Type of Memorial: Multi-War Memorial

Wars mentioned (Multi-war only):
World War I World War II Korea

In Honor Of: Dedicated to the glory of God and in honor of the men and woman of Locust Dale and Germantown who served our country through World War 1 and II and Korea

Date of dedication: 1950s

Who Put it Here?: The Towns of Locust Dale & Germantown

Description of Memorial:
It is a shame that this memorial is crumbling. It is a nice, quiet, backwoods area rich in coal mining tradition. The people are very friendly and actually wave to you as they drive by in their cars. Make sure to drive slowly as the roads are windy, curvy and somewhat treacherous if you are traveling at unsafe speeds (over 25 mph) There is a small geocache in back of the memorial stone.
