The target location IS NOT at the listed coordinates, which is on private property in the middle of a pasture populated by cows. Please DO NOT try and get to the actual confluence point. Sure it would be great to see all those zeros on your GPSr, but you would be trespassing.
There is a good location right along State Route 34 near Chariton, about 50 miles south of I-80, and only 0.5 mile from the cache "location" at 41°N 93°W.
Parking area location: N 41 00.429; W 093 00.255 This is the only location you need to reach.
Are you "Wired" enough to try this waypoint? Or will it be a "Fly In The Ointment"? It was inspired by a virtual geocache at a confluence point called "Betwixt and Between" (GCDF21) in Ontario, Canada. It was just calling out to be logged as a waypoint in more ways than one as you will find out from the research part of the puzzle. In order to claim credit for finding the waypoint, the following three things must happen:
1. Make your way to the parking spot and take a confirmation photo of your GPS readout showing the coordinates. Send the waypoint owner this picture. You may post it here if desired.
2. Take a picture of the surrounding area. One obvious choice is toward the south of the large tree and fence with the "no trespassing" sign. Send the waypoint owner this picture. You may post it here if desired.
3. Do research on the web for information about the song from 1979 which references the position of this waypoint. Email the waypoint owner with the name of the band, the name of the song, and the words (3 lines) to the chorus of the song.
Please note that this is NOT a park-and-grab waypoint you can easily catch if you're traveling through on I-80. It does take you seriously out of the way of the interstate, but there is lots to see on the way.
