According to the artist's website, this is one of three commissioned sculptures in Blowing Rock. There is another at nearby Banner Elk, NC.

The location is downtown Blowing Rock, at the intersection of Main Street and Sunset Avenue.

"I think that sculpture is most effective when conceived knowing beforehand the location and purpose. I think that sculpture is most effective when it is monochromatic or has the same basic finish throughout. I admire abstractions, but I think they work best when combined with the human form or natural world."
