The village of Maud is situated in the far part of north-east Scotland in the Aberdeenshire district of Buchan. The church, serving the parish of New Deer, was built in 1876 and lies on the eastern edge of the village on the east side of Bank Road.
The building is aligned east-west and its principal feature is the tall western gable which faces the street. The gable is topped by a tall, thin bellcote which features a lancet opening and is topped by a stone cross finial. A single bell is hung and is clearly visible.
The church was united with Savoch Church which was situated five miles to the south oil a rural area, and turned into a private residence.
