"The Fresno City Council voted 7-0 to allow the Costco on West Shaw Avenue to relocate toHerndon Avenue and Riverside Drive.

The new Costco is expected to include of a 219,000-square-foot building, a 32-pump gas station, and a car wash.

Plans for the new Costco were put on hold last month after council members voted to return the issue to staff for more studies, specifically focusing on traffic.

Councilman Mike Karbassi, who represents the 2nd district that includes the proposed site, voiced concerns over traffic congestion, traffic patterns, and whether enough projections have been considered as the area continues to grow.

The site is also nearCentral Unified School District's Rio Vista Middle School and River Bluff Elementary School.

During the meeting on Thursday, it was said that the school district and Costco officials met and the school district claims to have submitted a letter to the city in support of the project.

A Costco representative said it plans to begin construction in the fall and open the new location in 2025." (visit link)
