Tollhouse - Pier Tollhouse, Menai Bridge, Ynys Môn, Wales - Bygone Toll Houses on Waymarking.com

This small tollhouse located at the entrance of St George's Pier in Menai Bridge was used to collect fares for passage on the many boats which operated from the pier.

The building was restored by the local civic society for the Millennium celebrations in the town.

A bilingual plaque above the entrance of the tollhouse reads:

THE PIER GATE HOUSE WAS RESTORED BY THE MENAI BRIDGE AND DISTRICT CIVIC SOCIETY
AND RE-OPENED IN JUNE 2000 FOR THE MILLENNIUM CELEBRATIONS

During the summer tourist season the building is used to sell artisan ice cream.
