Lauttasaari church is located in Helsinki , Lauttasaari district. It was inaugurated on September 20, 1958. The church was designed by architects Marja and Keijo Petäjä , the interior and communion furniture were designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara.

Building complex
The building complex has two church halls, the larger of which, the actual Lauttasaari church, is used by the Finnish-speaking congregation of Lauttasaari. The smaller church hall is used by the Swedish-speaking Johannes församling and is called S:t Jacobs kyrka . The two church halls are connected by a wing building, which houses, among other things, the vicar's office and a sports hall.

Lauttasaari church is located on a gentle rocky slope and behind it is the green area of Myllykallio. Stairs flanked by stone walls lead to the church from the hero's tomb area. The church halls and parish facilities border the churchyard on three sides, which has, among other things, a floating boulder placed in a water basin and benches for sitting on. The tall and narrow tower in the middle of the churchyard is an important landmark of Lauttasaari.

The interior of Lauttasaari church is very simple. There is a cross on the altar wall. The church hall can accommodate about 700 hearers.

Lauttasaari church is protected by the decision of the 2004 church assembly.

Overhaul
The first renovation of the church should be completed in January 2022. to be updated The main designer of the project is architect Anna Puisto from Verstas Arkkitehdit Oy and the contractor is Lujatalo Oy . The body of the church, built on the rock, is made of cast-in-place concrete, so the old structures could be preserved in those parts, but the entire building technology had to be renewed. Functional changes were also necessary, because before there was no internal connection to all the spaces, but they were accessed from the outside through their own entrance. After the renovation, all rooms can be accessed through the interior corridor. Originally, there were also apartments in the building, but after the repairs, the Lauttasaari music college will move into the premises. Everything old was tried to be preserved or repaired to match the original. This is how the lamps designed by Ilmari and Marjatta Tapiovaara, among others, were renovated and converted to work with LED lights. The costs of the entire renovation project were estimated at 18 million euros.
