This statue of Saint Joseph with the child in his arms is in the gardens of the Enrique Udaondo Provincial Museum Complex, it is made of red sandstone "tacuru" and comes from the ruins of apostles in the city of Misiones, brought by Doctor Francisco P. Moreno in 1890.

"Joseph of Nazareth was, according to Christian tradition, the husband of Mary, who was the mother of Jesus and, therefore, putative father of Jesus. In the Bible he appears in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, he was an artisan by trade (in the original Greek, t??t??; Matthew 13:55a), which already in the first centuries of Christianity became a carpenter, a profession that he would have taught his son, of whom the Gospel de Marcos affirms that he was a "carpenter." The genealogies placed at the beginning of the gospels of Matthew and Luke present Joseph as a descendant of King David. According to Luke, Joseph was still alive when Jesus was twelve years old. Since no evangelist mentions it during Jesus' public ministry, it is presumed that Joseph had died before this took place. The Gospel of Matthew calls him “righteous,” which is interpreted as being faithful to the Torah.

The figure of Joseph was contemplated and admired by various fathers and doctors of the Church, and is today the object of study of a particular branch of theology, josephology."
