ES: "DE SOLAR ABANDONADO A
PARQUE MODERNISTA

EN: "After the intentional collapse of the Church of Santa Maria de Gracia in 1912 the neighborhood was gradually abandoned, only the houses located in the northwestern sector remained standing the first years, turning the rest of the space into a lot.
The central street that crossed the neighborhood was abandoned and hidden among the rubble, but the roadway surrounding the mound was maintained, which years later would generate the current road that delimits the square.
Faced with this situation of semi-abandonment, the city council decided to give the area a public use by building a park with three stone benches, brick and ornamented with modernist-inspired tiles. To access each of the seats, a cobblestone path is built to overcome the unevenness by placing steps made of ashlars.
This same road morphology, based on boulders, is used for lateral access from the base of the bench to the surface of the square. This was used as a space for public use or even as an improvised soccer field.
At that time, the upper esplanade still had the natural stone wall that was once part of the northern wall of the Church of Santa Maria de Gracia"."
