"Entre un bosque de acacios negros y senderos de tierra, se ocultan las ruinas de una capilla neogótica y una escuela ,una estación de Tren (Máximo Fernández), dos edificios que supieron darle vida a la Estancia Montelén y al pueblo que nació gracias a la actividad agropecuaria del establecimiento.
Salaberry, más conocido como Máximo Fernández, en honor a quien donó las tierras para la creación de la estación de tren y quien fue dueño del campo e intendente de la zona, pasó del esplendor al ocaso.
Ubicado a 22 km de Bragado, en la provincia de Buenos Aires, el pueblo supo tener más de 300 habitantes. Hoy el tranquilo movimiento de sus calles lo provoca el único almacén de ramos generales, la escuela Julio Argentino Roca, el destacamento del delegado y el trabajo agrario.
El patriarca de la familia Salaberry murió en 1908 y no vivió para ver ni los años de gloria ni el triste final. Aparentemente por problemas de mala administración, en 1934 la propiedad fue embargada y administrada por la Compañía Argentina de Bienes Raíces.
Actualmente Montelén pertenece a una sociedad anónima y, además de la actividad turística, se dedica a la agricultura y ganadería.
Con las tierras divididas en terrenos cada vez más chicos y el cese del paso del tren, Máximo Fernández es otro pueblo más de la provincia que no pudo escaparle a la migración de su gente. Hoy, sus construcciones son los únicos testigos de ese pasado extravagante.

Desde Buenos Aires son 221 km por Acceso Oeste y luego RN 5 hasta Bragado. Luego tomar Camino Real (22 km de tierra) hasta la estancia. Otra opción es ir desde Bragado a La Limpia, un pueblo cercano, y tomar el único camino de tierra que va paralelo a la vía."

"Among a forest of black acacia trees and dirt paths, the ruins of a neo-Gothic chapel and a school, a train station (Maximo Férnandez), are hidden, two buildings that knew how to give life to the Estancia Montelén and the town that was born thanks to the agricultural activity of the establishment.

From Buenos Aires it is 221 km via Western Access and then RN 5 to Bragado. Then take Camino Real (22 km of dirt) to the ranch. Another option is to go from Bragado to La Médica, a nearby town, and take the only dirt road that runs parallel to the road."
