Mr. Davis is buried next to a sibling, while the family moved on to Washington state at some point. The cenotaph is made of red granite, with his flight wings complemented at the top by flowers in each corner, and the inscription box reads:

F.O. Andrew Y. Davis
8th Photo Recon. Sqdn.
Oct. 18, 1921
Missing in Action
in New Guinea
Feb. 9, 1944

His listing in the cemetery at Findagrave (see Website, below) has a few articles from the Eldorado Courier (August 8 and 15) regarding the memorial service that was held on August 11, 1946, noting the placement of this stone. There's mention of his having disappeared on a photographic mission in New Guinea on February 9, 1944, but there are no further details.

He is listed on the Walls of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines, where a death date of February 10, 1945 is given. Findagrave complements that listing, and provides a few vague bits of information. The recon mission was to Nadzab, and they encountered instrument weather twelve miles from Salamaua before contact was lost. After a year and a day of investigation, the military made his death official.
