17th century pulpit in St Michael's church, Brent Knoll.

The church has a Norman doorway but the present nave was built in AD 1290. The Jacobean pulpit is from the 17th century (dated 1637).
The Norman zigzag moulding over the south door was replicated by a much later craftsman in the decorative woodwork panelling. It is quite beautifully carved, though simple in design.

The corners of the pulpit are Ionic style columns, while the panels are decorated with blind Norman styled arches.

The pulpit is on a broad pedestal of plain design. It is accessed by steps on the left side.
