"L'enclos paroissial où se trouve encore un magnifique calvaire qui a été vandalisé en 1 794, est bordé de six ifs séculaires. Ceux-ci pourraient avoir été plantés, vers le XVe siècle au temps de la construction de l'église.
Ces ifs ont résisté à la tempête d'octobre 1987. Pourtant, leurs troncs d'environ six mètres de circonférence, présentent de nombreuses cavités, résultant de la dégradation du bois qui est reconnu pour sa dureté. Par contre, les plus jeunes, qui pouvaient avoir 300 ans, avaient été déracinés en 1987 et l'un d'entre eux a été utilisé pour construire le nouvel autel de l'église.
L'if (Taxus baccata) est un arbre ornemental très commun dans les parcs et les jardins publics et les cimetières bretons. Les druides considéraient l'if comme un arbre sacré, symbole d'immortalité. Cependant, cette plante est très toxique et son ingestion peut s'avérer mortelle. L'if à baies est également mortel pour les chevaux. Les Gaulois connaissaient bien les propriétés de cet arbuste et l'utilisaient pour empoisonner les pointes de leurs flèches.
L'if, situé en face du porche occidental, est creux et on peut y pénétrer et faire le tour de la liane qui y pousse, ce qui est susceptible, croit-on, de mettre un terme à des douleurs articulaires ou de calmer une fièvre et les mamans y venaient avec leurs enfants pour favoriser leur apprentissage de la marche."
