And one more view of the castle. This time directly from the opposite bank of the Berounka River. The view is somewhat obscured by the bushes on our right bank of the river, but it is possible to see and understand why the castle was not visible from the bridge (visit link) , but here from a distance, it is visible. In fact, one could say that in the case of this castle, it is better to observe and photograph from a much greater distance.

As I mentioned earlier Karlstejn has an exceptional place in Czech history. It has also become a grateful and popular motif for many painters. The author of the painting on the puzzle-box is the Czech painter Tavik Frantisek Simon.

Tavík František Šimon (13 May 1877 in Železnice, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) – 19 December 1942 in Prague), was a Czech painter, etcher, and woodcut artist. Born František Šimon, he later adopted the additional name 'Tavík', which was his mother's maiden name, generally signing his work T. F. Šimon. Largely ignored during the Communist era in Czechoslovakia, his work has received greater attention in recent years.
