This U.S. Geological Survey Benchmark disk is located on the steps of a post office on West Pike Street in Vevay, Indiana. The disk is on the right-hand side of the bottom steps at the main entrance to the post office. The disk is stamped "TT 1 D" and "1939." The mark is in good condition.
The description on the NGS data sheet from 1965 says:
AT VEVAY, IN SECTION 14, T 2 N, R 3 W, 0.1 MILE NORTH OF THE COURTHOUSE, SET IN THE TOP OF THE NORTHEAST END OF THE BOTTOM STEP AT THE SOUTHEAST ENTRANCE TO THE POST OFFICE, ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE THE SIDEWALK.
