The history she must have witnessed in one hundred years of living. She saw a man take to the air, they flew across the ocean and landed on the moon. Mary lived through The Great Depression, and four wars. To see women have the right to vote and to fly into space. And to cheer on the New York Yankees to win one more World Series.
What she must have witnessed during her lifetime.
Some of these events were:
1886 - The Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor is dedicated by U.S. President Grover Cleveland.
1893 -First Lady Frances Cleveland gives birth in the White House to daughter Esther Cleveland.
1895 - The first American automobile race.
- The first professional American football game is played.
1900 - The Wright brothers begin their first manned glider experimental
flights.
1908 - The first Mother's Day was observed.
1910 - Joyce Hall founded Hallmark Cards.
1914 - World War I (1914-1918)
1919 - The Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution begins Prohibition.
1920 - Babe Ruth was traded to the New York Yankees.
- The Nineteenth Amendment, giving women the right to vote.
1927 - Charles Lindbergh's transatlantic flight.
1930 - The Great Depression in the United States.
1931 - The Star-Spangled Banner is adopted as the United States
national anthem.

- Construction of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan begins.
1932 - Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president.
1933 - 21st Amendment ends prohibition.
1939 - World War II (1939-1945)
1941 - Attack on Pearl Harbor.
1945 - End of World War II
1950 - Korean War begins when North Korea forces invade South Korea.
The war lasted until an armistice agreement was signed in 1953.
1955 - Start of Vietnam War.
1963 - "I have a Dream" Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his speech
during the civil rights march in Washington, DC.
- Assassination of President Kennedy.
1969 - Moon Landing, Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin Jr., become the first men to land on the Moon.
1974 - Nixon Resignation.
1975 - End of the Vietnam War.

1993 - The Great Blizzard of 1993 strikes the eastern United States, bringing a record snowfall and other severe weather all the way from Cuba to Quebec.
