"La obra se localiza en la Plaza del Palau de Elche y fue realizada por el escultor Eutiquio Estirado. Se inauguró el 20 de febrero de 2008.
La escultura es una bola de 1,80 m. de diámetro fundida en bronce con palabras narradas en la totalidad de su superficie. La obra representa una gran bola del mundo de la que brota agua que baja por su superficie hasta el suelo y sobre la que se sienta la figura de una mujer a la que se rinde homenaje
Lo más interesante de la obra son las palabras y frases de mujeres que han dejado huella en la historia de la humanidad. Expresiones de 19 escritoras, pintoras, investigadoras ó artistas recorren los renglones de esta escultura circular.
Una poesía en árabe de la poetisa cordobesa Wallada Bint Al-Mustakfi, junto con otra de Safo, enlaza con palabras en catalán de María Mercé Marçal, el misticismo de Teresa de Jesús, la imaginación de Virginia Wolf, Simone de Beauvoir, ó de Concepción Arenal, la pasión de Ninon de Lenclos, el evolucionismo de Lynn Margulis, el frentismo de la sindicalista, escritora y cristiana rechazada por los teóricos de la Iglesia, de Simone Weill, el sarcasmo literario de Dorothy Parker, la poetisa Alaíde Foppa, la de Rose Auslander, la pintora Frida Kahlo, la escritora Natalia Ginzburg, la poetisa y dramaturga Alfonsina Storni, la poesía surrealista de Alejandra Pizarnik, la novelista y ensayista Mercedes Cabello, finalizando con una frase en japonés de Akiko Yosano, feminista, pacifista y reformista social.
Como destacó el escultor «la obra refleja una mujer que se está construyendo sobre las ideas y los conceptos de otras mujeres anteriores, que pelearon y crearon desde su condición. La figura no está terminada. Es como una mujer que se encuentra en un estudio, en el taller de un artista en el que se está haciendo y reproduciendo sobre las ideas, los conceptos de mujeres que ya han fallecido pero que han dejado su obra».
Para la elección de las frases, el artista contó con la colaboración de su entorno femenino. «Compañeras, amigas, hija, esposa y demás, son las que me han dado la autora que más les ha motivado, y lo que he hecho es dar reflejo a esas ideas. Estamos hablando de mujeres contemporáneas. Por eso, no he querido hacer una mujer terminada que reflejase excesivamente una figuración exquisita, todo lo contrario. Los brazos, las piernas, están por construir. Es una mujer moderna que está por construir y peleando por su condición».
La idea de la fuente surgió con el desarrollo de la obra. «Consideraba que debía hacer algo más que una simple escultura. El agua jugaba metafóricamente con la vida de las palabras de estas mujeres, que están presentes por la trascendencia que han tenido. Es un homenaje a todas esas mujeres creadoras que por su condición de mujer, tuvieron que enfrentarse a muchos problemas».
La escultura, financiada por la empresa municipal Pimesa, costó más de 89.000€."

As the sculptor highlighted, "the work reflects a woman who is building herself on the ideas and concepts of other previous women, who fought and created from their condition. The figure is not finished. It is like a woman who is in a studio, in an artist's workshop in which she is making and reproducing the ideas, the concepts of women who have already died but who have left their work.
For the choice of phrases, the artist had the collaboration of his female entourage. «Colleagues, friends, daughter, wife and others, are the ones who have given me the author who has motivated them the most, and what I have done is reflect those ideas. We are talking about contemporary women. For this reason, I did not want to make a finished woman that excessively reflected an exquisite figuration, quite the opposite. The arms, the legs, are to be built. "She is a modern woman who is about to build and fight for her condition."
The idea of ??the fountain arose with the development of the work. «I considered that I should do something more than a simple sculpture. The water metaphorically played with the life of the words of these women, who are present because of the significance they have had. It is a tribute to all those creative women who, because of their status as women, had to face many problems.
The sculpture, financed by the municipal company Pimesa, cost more than €89,000."
