"The Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation, in the town of Setenil de las Bodegas, was built under the patronage of the Catholic Monarchs after the conquest of the town. It is very much in line with the late Gothic constructions that symbolize the triumph over the Muslim town from the end of the 15th century. It is located a few minutes from the Castle.

Its construction began at the end of 1505 and under the direction of Fray Diego de Deza, with Pedro Díaz de Palacios, Chief Master of Works of the Diocese of Málaga, intervening at the beginning of the 17th century.

Of late Gothic style with some construction elements that advocate the Renaissance, it is an unfinished work, with its central nave and façade never being built when the works were permanently stopped in 1614. The main church of the town is the temple from which the Brotherhood processions take place. of Santa Vera Cruz (Los Blancos) of the popular Setenile Holy Week.

The plan is a nave with a transept, covered with tercelet vaults and the presbytery with an interweaving of Gothic ribs like a star vault. Inside, important objects of worship from the 16th to 18th centuries are preserved: a Crucified Christ from the beginning of the 17th century, a silk and gold Chasuble donated by the Catholic Monarchs at the consecration of the building, and a panel painting altarpiece from the late from the 15th century with notable Gothic influence.

Regarding its iconography, it should be said that it represents scenes from the childhood of Christ and in the central street the mystery of the Incarnation, the dedication under which the church is located."
