"Mentioned from 1175, the year in which Blessed Alberto da Chiatina, later archpriest of the Colle di Val d'Elsa, became rector for two years, it is attested with greater certainty from 1262 onwards.

The church has undergone notable transformations over time. In the second half of the 18th century, the Romanesque temple was built, modified with the addition of pillars, arches and vaults inside and completed on the façade with the two-section entrance staircase. The 20th century restorations aimed to return the medieval forms to the gabled façade, the bell tower and the courtyard.

On the outside, the apse stands out, as a testimony of the primitive Romanesque forms.

Inside, a single nave with an apse, highlights are a relief from the mid-15th century (The Virgin and Child), perhaps from the school of Jacopo della Quercia, a 15th-century monochrome fresco by Martino di Bartolomeo on the right altar. . (Sant'Anna, the Virgin and Child), a deteriorated 15th-century Sassetian school fresco on the left altar and, on the main altar, the polyptych with the Coronation of the Virgin between Saints Peter and Andrew by Giovanni di Paolo (1445). In the church there are also two paintings from the 18th century such as the Scenes of Blessed Aldobrandesca Ponzi and of Blessed Alberto da Chiatina by Apollonio Nasini."
