"The Planetarium de Marinha is located in the Belém district, close to the Museu de Marinha museum and the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos; It was first used in 1965 and regular sessions can be attended to help the general public become better acquainted with astronomy.

The Planetarium has recently been renovated and has many modern equipment in use, including a central sphere with 32 projectors on fixed stars. In this way it is possible to display more than 9,000 stars in both celestial hemispheres, such as the Milky Way, other galaxies and nebulae, as well as the figures of the constellations and their didactic guides. Among other things, sessions are also regularly offered in different languages, but there are also special exhibitions for children and presentations related to certain periods of the year.

To complement this space, there is also a library with about 1000 books and an observatory (Observatório Comandante Conceição Silva) with modern equipment that can be used by amateur astronomers."
