[FR] La plus ancienne mention du moulin remonte à mars 1211, dans une bulle du pape Innocent III, privilege où le du moulin de Tournon est accordé à l'abbaye Sainte Croix d'Angles. Par la suite, cette abbaye céda une partie de ses droits aux seigneurs de Tournon. On peut voir sur la partie la plus ancienne du moulin au-dessus de la porte, un blason gratté à la Révolution et des mâchicoulis. Le moulin sera fortifié lors des guerres franco-anglaises du 14 ^ (imc) siècle, tout comme l'eglise. Car, après le traité de Brétigny en 1360, la Creuse servit de frontière entre Anglais et Français, ce qui généra bon nombre de situations conflictuelles de 1369 à 1372.

Mr Vernat, propriétaire du moulin, l'agrandit en 1924 et rehaussa l'ecluse de 80 cm, afin d'avoir une chute d'eau plus importante destinée à produire de l'électricité pour Tournon. Cette année là, 24 lampes éclaireront les rues du bourg, remplaçant les réverbères. L'électrification de Tournon sera reprise en 1928 par la Société des Forces Motrices de la Vienne : les bâtiments de l'ancienne usine hydroelectrique ont disparu, seul subsiste le four à pain.

Acquis par la municipalité, le moulin a fait l'objet d'un projet de stade nautique et de gite de groupe ouvert au public en 2002

[EN] The earliest mention of the mill dates back to March 1211, in a papal bull issued by Pope Innocent III, in which the privilege of the Tournon mill was granted to the abbey of Sainte Croix d'Angles. The abbey subsequently ceded part of its rights to the lords of Tournon. The oldest part of the mill, above the gate, features a coat of arms scratched off during the French Revolution and machicolations. The mill was fortified during the Franco-English wars of the 14th century, as was the church. After the Treaty of Brétigny in 1360, the Creuse served as a border between the English and the French, leading to a number of conflicts between 1369 and 1372.

In 1924, Mr Vernat, the mill's owner, enlarged the mill and raised the lock by 80 cm, to create a greater waterfall to generate electricity for Tournon. That year, 24 lamps lit the streets of Tournon, replacing the existing street lamps. Tournon's electrification was taken over in 1928 by the Société des Forces Motrices de la Vienne: the buildings of the old hydroelectric plant had disappeared, leaving only the bread oven.

Acquired by the municipality, the mill was the subject of a project for a nautical stadium and group accommodation, opened to the public in 2002.
