La primera capilla bajo esta advocación fue inaugurada en el año 1857. Existe y ha sido restaurada, como símbolo histórico.
Esta capilla se construyó casi paralelo a la creación del municipio, el pueblo creció y se quedo pequeña esta capilla por lo que con donaciones de los feligreses se pudo construir una de mayores dimensiones justo al lado, el municipio la ha restaurado y mantenido para obras de interés social como por ejemplo Alcohólicos Anónimos Grupo "Guardia del corazón"
Programa de tratamiento del alcoholismo, el cual usa las dependencias de esta antigua capilla.
