[CZ] Na veži renesancního kostela Nanebevzetí Panny Marie a sv. Má výšku 4,2 m, šírku 2,5 m a váží 440 kg. Pozlacená korouhev zárící do daleka je z medi a zdobí ji vyobrazení Nanebevzetí Panny Marie a sv. Gotharda.
[EN] The largest rotating weathervane in the Czech Republic is located on the tower of the Renaissance Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Gothard in Budišov in the Trebíc region. It is 4.2 m high, 2.5 m wide and weighs 440 kg. The gold-plated weathervane shining in the distance is made of copper and decorated with the image of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Gotthard.
Budišov weathervane has no analogue in our country, a larger one can be found in Seville, Spain. The weathervane, 414 cm high, 250 cm wide and weighing 440 kg, rotating around an iron mast anchored in the tower's weave, was made by the master of the shepherd's craft Mr. Andrle from Rájek.
Another rarity is the fact that, while in other cases only the flags are rotated on the weathervane, in Budišov the whole weathervane is rotated according to the wind. Originally made of iron, it was placed on the tower in 1722, when Budišov was owned by the noble Paar family. The original weathervane was replaced by a copper replica in 1982.
After it was damaged by the gusts of the devastating Hurricane Kyrill on 19 January 2007, the weathervane had to leave its place for a while. In 2012 it was repaired, gilded and returned to the church tower.
