Julius Sabinus était un gaulois de la tribu des Lingons. Engagé dans la légion romaine, il devint officier et fut naturalisé Romain. Pour des raisons mal connues, il déclencha en 69 apr. J.-C. une révolte en Gaule Belge. Il se proclama "César" et entra en guerre contre la tribu des Séquanes, alliée de Rome. Il fut rapidement vaincu et le territoire des Lingons fut soumis au contrôle de l'armée romaine du Rhin et incorporé à la province romaine de Germanie. D
iAu pied du rocher abritant la grotte de Sabinus se trouve la source de la Marne. Cette rivière parcourt 525 km à travers la Champagne avant de se jeter dans la Seine.
Julius Sabinus was a Gaul from the Lingon tribe. Engaged in the Roman legion, he became an officer and was naturalized Roman. For reasons that are poorly understood, it triggered in 69 AD. a revolt in Belgian Gaul. He proclaimed himself "Caesar" and went to war against the Sequane tribe, an ally of Rome. He was quickly defeated and the Lingon territory was brought under the control of the Roman Army of the Rhine and incorporated into the Roman province of Germania. D
iAt the foot of the rock sheltering the cave of Sabinus is the source of the Marne. This river travels 525 km through Champagne before emptying into the Seine.
