The church was originally built on this location on the 10th century, using the remnants of a Roman tower. It was completely destroyed by a fire and in fact the temple that we can visit nowadays dates from 1904 being one of the few round churches in Egypt.
It's attached to Greek Orthodox Church, something which becomes very clear by the Greek flag standing by the entrance.
It's easily accessed as it's literally across the street from Mar Girgis metro station.
