Un pont avec une histoire macabre et nommé d'après les personnes chargées de retirer les corps de l'eau. Elle fut reconstruite et élargie au XIXe siècle. Aujourd'hui, c'est un beau pont, loin de son passé.

Le pont du Corbeau se trouve entre la rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons et la place du Corbeau. Permettant de traverser l'Ill, il était classé Route Nationale n° 4 et liait Paris à Vienne. Avant sa reconstruction en métal au XIXe siècle, il était en bois.

Le pont, étroitement lié à la vie judiciaire de la Ville est à l’origine appelé Schindbrücke ou "Pont des Supplices" ("der Schinder" : le bourreau / l'écorcheur). En effet, une loi de 1411 oblige les condamnés à mort à être jetés à l’eau depuis ce pont, empaquetés dans un sac en lin cousu. La pratique est maintenue et perdure avec quelques variations jusqu'en 1617. À partir de 1466, le pont est aussi un lieu d'humiliations où l'on châtie les malfaiteurs : les voleurs et les pilleurs de jardins sont enfermés dans une cage sise sur ce pont et exposés aux moqueries des passants avant d’être jetés dans l’Ill d’où ils doivent regagner la rive à la nage. En 1502, un crucifix en pierre est scellé sur les poutres du pont pour le repentir des condamnés. Au XVe siècle, le pont est doté d’échoppes5.

Il est reconstruit en 1542 et la chaussée est élargie à cette occasion. Le pont prend son nom actuel à partir de 1816.

The Corbeau Bridge is located between Rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons and Place du Corbeau. Allowing you to cross the Ill, it was classified as National Route No. 4 and linked Paris to Vienna. Before its reconstruction in metal in the 19th century, it was made of wood.

The bridge, closely linked to the judicial life of the City, was originally called Schindbrücke or "Bridge of Torments" ("der Schinder": the executioner / the flayer). Indeed, a law from 1411 requires those condemned to death to be thrown into the water from this bridge, bundled in a sewn linen bag. The practice is maintained and continues with some variations until 1617. From 1466, the bridge is also a place of humiliation where criminals are punished: thieves and garden looters are locked in a cage located on this bridge and exposed to the mockery of passers-by before being thrown into the Ill from where they must swim back to shore. In 1502, a stone crucifix was sealed on the beams of the bridge for the repentance of the condemned. In the 15th century, the bridge was equipped with stalls.

It was rebuilt in 1542 and the roadway was widened on this occasion. The bridge took its current name from 1816.
