The engraver who worked on the headstone for Susan Bohanan in Sardis Cemetery didn't proofread his work on the epitaph, and obviously, got away with it.

This marble headstone has an open book at the top, with a shroud hanging off on one side. There's room for a photo medallion on the back, but there's no indication that one was ever placed. The family name is on the front plinth, and a dove of peace flies under "Only sleeping" at the gate into Heaven. The engraver had a little problem with the word "mother", and the inscription reads:

Susan
Wife of
E. Bohanan

Born 1862
Died
Oct. 4, 1918

-------

A loving wife a moher
dear,
A faithful friend lies
buried here.
