Not long ago, this was a silver hydrant with a green cap. In 2019, Create Ardmore and the Ardmore Fire Department worked together on a beautification effort in which fire hydrants in the downtown Cultural Arts District -- a comparatively small number compared to the over 1600 hydrants that the Ardmore FD has to maintain throughout the area! -- would be given the glamour treatment. As the Ardmore FD requires that the hydrants have a specific color cap -- red, orange, green or blue -- to indicate how much water pressure each tank has behind it, they did the priming work, leaving local volunteers to use their imaginations and minimal guidelines in the effort.

Create Ardmore featured this one on their Facebook page, naming Kari Walker as the artist. The cap is still green, with "Color" in yellow, orange, and red across the front. Most of the hydrant is yellow, and the standpipe is red, with a blue and yellow outlet cap with a red nut and chain on one side, and a red outlet cap with a yellow nut and red chain on the other. "Create" is in red on the front outlet cap, which is orange with a blue nut and an orange chain. "Inspire" is in blue right below, and there are red, blue, and orange flowers with green stems to be found on various parts of the hydrant.
