This Sunburst Locust is dedicated to a mother and her son, who tragically died several states away. The mother and son died in 1982 and this tree was dedicated in 1983. It is in the arboretum section of Trexler Park.

Here are excerpts from the obituary (link below) of Rochelle Snyder and Colin Nicholas describing her life and death:

"Ex-Allentonian, 2-year-old son dead after crash

A 27-year-old former Allentown woman and her 2-year-old son died as the result of an automobile-truck accident Tuesday on 1-95, near the Telegraph Road Exit in Alexandria,
Va.

Ann Rochelle Lynn Peacock, 27, and Collin Nicholas Peacock, 2, both of 8083 Steeplechase Court, Springfield, Va., were killed as the result of the accident.

The automobile Mrs. Peacock was driving crashed into the rear of a truck which was stalled on the higway. The truck driver, who reportedly was not injured, was flagging motorists around his stalled vehicle. Fairfax (Va.) state police reported there were no flares around the truck.

Mrs. Peacock was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fairfax County coroner could not be reached last night.

Mrs. Peacock was the wife of Timothy F. Peacock.

Collin Nicholas Peacock was taken to Alexandria Hospital where he died Wednesday as the result of his injuries.

Mrs. Peacock was a waitress at Portner’s Restaurant, Old Alexandria, Va., for about a year.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Richard N. and Dianne T. (Farber) Snyder of Allentown.

She was a 1972 graduate of Allen High School and attended Harcum Junior College and Villanova University.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Allentown.

Surviving with her husband and parents are a daughter, Lauren Lesie, at home; maternal grandmother Mrs. Lottie Farber of Slatington, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Snyder of New Tripoli.

Collin was born in Alexandria.

Surviving with his father, sister and maternal grandparents are paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Bernard F. Peacock of Fort Washington, Md."
