Bull CoA on a memorial in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Shapwick.

The stone memorial is to Jane Bull (nee. Southworth) (d. 1657), wife of William Bull.

"William Bull was born in 1595 in Wells. His father was a wealthy linen draper but son William pursued a political career and became a successful barrister. William acquired the property [Shapwick Manor] and land from Lord Compton around 1619. At this time the property was surrounded by a moat which the Bulls then filled. William and his wife Jane Southworth settled in the village and had at least two sons. When William died in 1676, the property passed to his eldest son Henry Bull."
