Part of the Public Land Survey System, this US General Land Office Survey monument marks the corner between the sections at T14N R68E S10, S11, S14, and S15, Mount Diablo Meridian and Baseline.

The marker is clearly visible from the nearby road. Orange fence posts, two cairns, and a survey point sign serve as witness objects. This was formerly the boundary between Humboldt National Forest on the south side and Bureau of Land Management land on the north side. About a decade after the National Park was created on National Forest land, the rest of the land around the park became Bureau of Land Management.
