Construite au 17e siècle, elle fut remaniée au 19e sur l’emplacement d’un ancien édifice du 12e siècle, soit une église de type romane. Reste aujourd’hui de cette ancienne église le porche roman reconstruit et installé à l’entrée du presbytère.
S’agissant de cet édifice à présent, c’est au 17e que les moines ont décidé de construire une nouvelle église. Les travaux ont débuté en 1681 et ont duré 15 ans.
L’église a été incendiée lors de la Guerre de Vendée, comme le reste de la ville.
Les portes d’origines visibles à l’intérieur de l’église gardent les traces d’effractions commises lors des inventaires réalisés par la force en 1906 lors de la séparation de l’église et de l’état.

Built in the 17th century, it was remodeled in the 19th on the site of an old building from the 12th century, a Romanesque church. What remains today of this old church is the Romanesque porch rebuilt and installed at the entrance to the presbytery.
Regarding this building now, it was in the 17th century that the monks decided to build a new church. Work began in 1681 and lasted 15 years.
The church was burned down during the Vendée War, like the rest of the town.
The original doors visible inside the church retain traces of break-ins committed during inventories carried out by force in 1906 during the separation of church and state.
