La Croix sur la colline de Château-Gaillard, est une croix mémorielle du Souvenir Vendéen, marquée du Sacré Coeur et de trois fleurs de lys.
On peut lire sur son socle :

La guerre de Vendée — ou les guerres de Vendée — est une guerre civile qui opposa dans l'Ouest de la France les républicains (surnommés les « bleus ») aux royalistes (les « blancs ») pendant la Révolution française entre 1793 et 1796, avec d'ultimes sursauts en 1799, 1815 et 1832.

The Cross on the hill of Château-Gaillard is a memorial cross of Vendéen Remembrance, marked with the Sacred Heart and three fleur-de-lys.
We can read on its base:
"IN MEMORIAL OF THE FIGHTS OF CHATILLON - JULY 3-5 OCTOBER 9-11, 1793
AND TO THE MEMORY OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE CANTON OF CHATILLON FALLEN IN DEFENSE OF THEIR ALTARS OR MASSACRES IN HATE OF THE FAITH" Souvenir Vendéen 1961.

The Vendée War - or the Wars of Vendée - is a civil war which opposed the Republicans (nicknamed the "blues") to the royalists (the "whites") in the West of France during the French Revolution between 1793 and 1796, with final bursts in 1799, 1815 and 1832.
