"The theater is designed according to the Italian theater model and is representative of public constructions of the 19th century. It has retained almost all of its original layout and has painted decoration.
Built by Armand Moisant, decorated by Joseph Bernard, Charles Maurin and Eugène Assezat de Bouteyre, it was inaugurated on July 8, 1893 by Raymond Poincaré, then minister of public education and fine arts, who on this occasion decorated the 3 decorators with academic palms .
The theater, including its machinery and the foyer, is listed as a historic monument by decree of September 30, 1991."
