"The parish church of San Esteban de la Garriga is a monument of the municipality of La Garriga included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.

It is a religious building with a rectangular floor plan. It consists of a single nave with side chapels between which there are entrances, the one on the north side leads to the upper gallery and the opposite to the baptistery. The third chapel of the north wing has access to the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. The longitudinal axis is parallel to the central nave.

The baroque doorway of the church, at the top of the grand stone staircase with a decorative balustrade, gives the church a very solemn tone and great effect.

The construction of the church, to which the same dedication of the old one, Sant Esteve, was transferred, is according to Josep Mauri i Serra the greatest collective work carried out by the people of Garrigues. Begun in 1686, it was not opened to worship until 1737, although it was not completely finished. The project of building it with a Latin cross plan and covering the transept with a dome was abandoned very early in the work and was changed to the plan of a single nave with a circular apse."
