EN: The parish church of Our Lady is located on Kirchbergstrasse in the center of Todtmoos. The now baroque church is also an important place of pilgrimage, which is why it has been repeatedly enlarged and rebuilt since its foundation. Its history goes back to the Middle Ages. A wooden chapel from 1255 was replaced by a first church in 1268. According to legend, this was at the personal request of Rudolf von Habsburg. Further enlargements followed in 1300 and 1391.
The current building was constructed between 1625 and 1632. This church was remodeled in the Baroque style in the 1770s. At that time, the church was owned by the monastery of St. Blasien, which spent considerable funds on the renovation and engaged important artists from all over Europe.
The church was significantly enlarged again in 1927 and was given its current church tower. The facade paintings were restored according to the original drawings from 1627.
DE: Die Pfarrkirche Unserer Lieben Frau steht an der Kirchbergstrasse im Zentrum von Todtmoos. Die heute barocke Kirche ist auch ein bedeutender Wallfahrtsort, weshalb sie seit Bestehen immer wieder vergrössert und umgebaut wurde. Ihre Geschichte geht zurück ins Mittelalter. Eine hölzerne Kapelle von 1255 wurde bereit s1268 durch eine erste Kirche ersetzt. Nach der Legende auf persönlichen Wunsch von Rudolf von Habsburg. Weitere Vergrösserungen folgten 1300 und 1391.
Das heutige Gebäude entstand zwischen 1625 und 1632. Diese Kirche wurde in den 1770er Jahren im barocken Stil umgestaltet. Damals war die Kirche im Besitz des Klosters von St. Blasien, das für die Umgestaltung bedeutende Mittel aufwendete und bedeutende Künstler aus ganz Europa verpflichtete.
1927 wurde die Kirche nochmals bedeutend vergrössert und erhielt ihren heutigen Kirchturm. Die Fassadenmalereien wurden nach den Originalzeichnungen von 1627 wieder hergestellt.
