Located on Gasparilla Island is the small community of Boca Grande. In the downtown section of Boca Grande at the intersection of 5th Street West and Gilchrist Avenue is a small island in the roadway with a memorial to veterans. This bronze plaque is adorned with an eagle and a stars and stripes shield. It is mounted on a painted concrete base.

This memorial is located at the entrance to the Boca Grande Public Beach Access parking lot. All drivers wanting to travel the length of the island will have no choice but to pass this memorial if they use Gilchrist Avenue.
