At the time of its construction, the Main Post Office was one of the most modern post offices in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. To this day, the Czech Post is still housed in this building and thus serves its original purpose.
The Main Post Office building is an important landmark between the business and spa areas of Karlovy Vary. In its time it was one of the most modern postal facilities of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The front part of the Main Post Office building is decorated with four allegorical statues representing the telegraph, railway transport, shipping and the post office on the third floor.
