El Río Genil se convierte en Iznájar en el mayor embalse de Andalucía, conocido como el “Lago de Andalucía”. Inunda tierras cordobesas, granadinas y malagueñas. Su capacidad supera los 981 millones de metros cúbicos y cuenta con más de 100 km de orilla.
Hoy en día el Embalse de Iznájar se ha convertido en un ecosistema con identidad propia y cuenta con una gran variedad de especies de flora y fauna. Además es un lugar de ocio y disfrute para sus visitantes.
El Centro de Interpretación del Embalse de Iznájar se encuentra en el paraje Natural de Valdearenas, a 2 km de la Villa de Iznájar. Es un lugar en el que descubrir los valores naturales y culturales en torno al Río Genil y del embalse de Iznájar.
El centro cuenta con una serie de intervenciones museográficas para que el visitante pueda conocer de primera mano el Río Genil, la construcción del embalse, el embalse como ecosistema y el patrimonio, historia y cultura de Iznájar.
Además, los visitantes podrán asistir a charlas y conferencias sobre el embalse, realizar talleres (comederos y nidales para aves) y caminar a lo largo de un sendero señalizado reconociendo la flora y fauna en torno al centro.

The Genil River becomes the largest reservoir in Andalusia in Iznájar, known as the “Lake of Andalusia”. It floods the lands of Córdoba, Granada and Malaga. Its capacity exceeds 981 million cubic meters and it has more than 100 km of shoreline.
Today the Iznájar Reservoir has become an ecosystem with its own identity and has a wide variety of flora and fauna species. It is also a place of leisure and enjoyment for its visitors.
The Iznájar Reservoir Interpretation Center is located in the Valdearenas Natural Area, 2 km from the Town of Iznájar. It is a place where you can discover the natural and cultural values ??around the Genil River and the Iznájar reservoir.
The center has a series of museum interventions so that the visitor can learn first-hand about the Genil River, the construction of the reservoir, the reservoir as an ecosystem and the heritage, history and culture of Iznájar.
In addition, visitors will be able to attend talks and conferences about the reservoir, take workshops (bird feeders and nesting boxes) and walk along a marked trail recognizing the flora and fauna around the center.
