- 1906. 31 de mayo. Atentado el rey. Cuando Alfonso XIII y la reina Victoria Eugenia
- 1906. Se concede el premio Nobel de medicina a Santiago Ramon y Cajal
- 1912. 12 de noviembre. Es asesinado a los 58 años el presidente del gobierno José Canalejas.
- 1914. España se declara neutral en la Primera Guerra Mundial.
- 1931. el 14 de abril, tras las elecciones municipales convocadas en toda España se proclama la Segunda República.
- 1936. 17, 18 y 19 de julio. Golpe de estado contra la II República meses después de la victoria en las urnas del Frente Popular. Se inicia la Guerra Civil Española.
- 1975. 20 de noviembre. Muere Francisco Franco, a las 5:25 de la madrugada en la Ciudad Sanitaria de la Paz.
- 1975. 22 de noviembre. Juan Carlos de Borbón presta juramento ante las Cortes y el Consejo del Reino como nuevo monarca y Jefe de Estado español.
- 1981. 23 de febrero. Intento de Golpe de Estado en el Congreso de los Diputados, por el teniente coronel de la Guardia Civil, Antonio Tejero.
- 2005. 29 de junio. Se aprueba la ley del matrimonio homosexual en España.
