Mr. Spurgeon's Findagrave page (see Web Site, below) indicates that he was a farmer who was killed by a train. His headstone sits under a beautiful little tree near the road through the cemetery. Made of concrete, it's squared off along the edges, a bit rough around the sides but smooth up top. It's about 1.25' by 1' by 1', tapering up at the back, and the inscription reads:

1895-1912
