Auf einem rund ein Meter hohen Postament ist der Hl. St. Nepomuk zu sehen. Das Jahr 1757 ist auf dem postament eingraviert. Die Figur ist auf dem Marktplatz zu Mitterteich besuchbar.
Johannes (von) Nepomuk oder Johannes von Pomuk (lateinisch Joannes de Pomuk, tschechisch Jan Nepomucký oder Jan z Pomuku, * um 1350 in Pomuk bei Pilsen; † 20. März 1393 in Prag) war ein böhmischer Priester und Märtyrer. Er wurde 1729 von Papst Benedikt XIII. heiliggesprochen. Die Jesuiten erhoben ihn 1732 zu ihrem zweiten Ordenspatron. Nepomuk gilt als Brückenheiliger und Patron des Beichtgeheimnisses.

He was canonised by Pope Benedict XIII in 1729. The Jesuits elevated him to their second patron saint in 1732. Nepomuk is considered a bridge saint and patron of the confessional.
