Desde hace tres décadas no se había actuado de lleno en el teatro municipal de El Carpio, tras una obra dirigida por el arquitecto José Luis de Lope y López de Rego. El pasado 10 de febrero, los vecinos de esta localidad completaron el aforo del patio de butacas de este espacio escénico, que ha estado sometido a varios meses de obras, recuperando el esplendor neomudéjar de hace tres décadas. El acto se abrió con el estreno de la interpretación Refugio de una luz, una melodía de Miguel Romero Sirvent que sirvió de homenaje a las personas que llenaron de angustia y sufrimiento este espacio escénico durante la guerra civil española. Escrita para ensemble instrumental, la narración musical estableció un paralelismo con las emociones que un artista experimenta antes de salir al escenario. El silencio se rompió tras la interpretación de este grupo. La reforma se ha llevado a cabo a través de los Planes Provinciales de la Diputación, la ha realizado ITAC Constructora y ha tenido un presupuesto superior a los 300.000 euros.
Condujo el acto el profesor y artista Jesús Zurita, quien manifestó que «tenemos unos bienes patrimoniales que hay que interpretarlos y seguir conservando». Por su parte, la diputada provincial de Empleo, Lola Amo, resaltó que «hoy es un ejemplo claro de un municipio que se ha ido construyendo a lo largo de la historia». Añadió que «este teatro es ahora mucho más funcional y cómodo». Acto seguido se proyectaron unas imágenes del desarrollo de las obras.
Por último cerró el acto la alcaldesa, Desirée Benavides, quien remarcó que «desde hoy el teatro luce con una luz propia». Añadió que «el teatro municipal tiene la huella de todos aquellos que lo han visitado alguna vez, como la alegría del Carnaval, la exaltación de la Semana Santa, la presencia de los niños en un fin de curso u obra de teatro, la sabiduría de nuestros mayores o la armonía de los músicos».
Añadió que «desde hoy, el teatro municipal de El Carpio brilla con una luz propia, una luz intensa que vibra, sembrada de trigo dorado, regada con la esperanza de un refugio y florecida con un sol majestuoso de vivencias, de pasajes que atesoran y se guardan en una memoria colectiva». Benavides añadió que «el teatro tiene la huella de todos aquellos que lo han visitado alguna vez, imponía una consideración a sus años, y así lo hemos tenido en cuenta, volviendo a estar a disposición de sus legítimos dueños, el pueblo de El Carpio». Arengó a los vecinos a que hagan uso de él, «porque, sobre todo, le hemos puesto corazón, cariño y el alma». Por último, la alcaldesa resaltó que «ha sido el proyecto más complicado de esta legislatura». En este sentido matizó que «no es fácil dirigir un Ayuntamiento porque siempre existe la incertidumbre, y en este proyecto concreto nada ha salido como en principio se esperaba» agradeciendo el apoyo vecinal.

He added that "from today, the municipal theater of El Carpio shines with its own light, an intense light that vibrates, planted with golden wheat, watered with the hope of a refuge and blossomed with a majestic sun of experiences, of passages that treasure and They are kept in a collective memory. Benavides added that "the theater has the mark of all those who have ever visited it, it imposed a consideration on its years, and we have taken it into account, returning to be at the disposal of its legitimate owners, the town of El Carpio." . He urged the neighbors to make use of it, "because, above all, we have put our heart, affection and soul into it." Finally, the mayor highlighted that "it has been the most complicated project of this legislature." In this sense, he clarified that "it is not easy to run a City Council because there is always uncertainty, and in this specific project nothing has turned out as initially expected," thanking the neighborhood support.
