"Bello entorno paisajístico, enclavado en el río Guadalquivir, un sitio tranquilo donde pasear y respirar aire puro, cargado de riqueza natural e historia, hasta el punto de haber sido declarado como Bien de Interés Cultural en el año 2002.
La presa tiene una longitud de 120 metros. Las ruedas, ya desaparecidas, tenían un diámetro de 14 metros. La altura del edificio principal es de 17 metros. Su planta es aproximadamente cuadrada y tiene 12.5 metros de lado. Está formado por cuatro grandes pilas de 2.2 metros de anchura. Entre ellas, hay tres canales de algo más de 1 metro, donde iban colocadas las tres norias. Por su diseño se considera un ingenio hidráulico único.
La construcción de Las Grúas o Aceñas se llevó a cabo entre los años 1561 y 1568 por orden del primer marqués de El Carpio, Diego López de Haro. La finalidad era sacar agua del río para regar las huertas vecinas. El conjunto estaba formado por una presa, tres grandes norias y un sistema de acequias y estanques para la canalización y el almacenamiento. Se trata de una construcción tan sólida que se ha mantenido en uso hasta nuestros días, a pesar de las crecidas del río. En 1883 se le realizaron obras de ampliación y mejora y se le añadió una portada de acceso. Actualmente se conserva sólo el edificio exterior y han desaparecido las ruedas.
La presa, ubicada en un lugar donde existían unas antiguas aceñas, dispone de dos estribos en ambas márgenes del río que nivelan el cauce con cinco contrafuertes interiores que soportan las contrapuertas y el piso del puente, subiendo sobre él para soportar la estructura metálica donde se sustentan las máquinas que accionan las contrapuertas. En el extremo de la margen derecha, un estribo se alza en arco sobre la calzada en forma de puerta. Aquí se alojan las escaleras de acceso a la cabina de control, rematada por una torreta octogonal, que tuvo una cúpula. Esta cúpula, el arco de herradura con alfiz, los grupos de simple o dobles ventanillas y los soportes de las barandillas de la calzada son de estilo neomudéjar.
Toda la obra de hormigón está exteriormente tratada con un revestimiento de bloques del mismo material de juntas señaladas a imitación de sillares a soga y tizón.
La superestructura metálica, constituida por una viga en caja de celosía, soportaba un entarimado de madera hoy sustituido por enrejado donde se sitúan, en casetas protegidas, los motores que transmiten la fuerza a los engranajes que soportan las cadenas de elevación de compuertas.
De la estructura en viga sobresale al exterior del embalse un puente grúa con cabina de madera de dos plantas para alojar al operario encargado de accionar los dispositivos por los cuales se transportan módulos de vigas metálicas que, apilados en unas ranuras paralelas a las de las compuertas, retienen el agua y posibilitan la separación de las citadas compuertas. Este mismo mecanismo se utiliza para levantar las carcasas de motores y engranajes.
Los dispositivos mecánicos de este ingenio están perfectamente diseñados, atendiendo al uso y a su función, con soluciones llenas de ingenio y meticulosidad, que, además de su idoneidad técnica, está llena de valores artísticos. Su estado de conservación es muy bueno.
La Central Eléctrica es un edificio construido también con una preocupación estética, con cubierta en cúpula de roscas de ladrillo con torretas de un singular aire historicista y expresionista, así como con algunos detalles entre los que destaca un balcón soportado por una cabeza de elefante. La fábrica está tratada con bloques a modo de sillares y es de destacar el diseño de las turbinas de fabricación extranjera, en uso desde su instalación".

The dam, located in a place where there were old mills, has two abutments on both banks of the river that level the channel with five interior buttresses that support the storm doors and the floor of the bridge, rising above it to support the metal structure where it is located. They support the machines that operate the storm doors. At the end of the right bank, an abutment rises in an arch over the gate-shaped road. Here are housed the access stairs to the control cabin, topped by an octagonal turret, which had a dome. This dome, the horseshoe arch with alfiz, the groups of single or double windows and the supports for the road railings are in the neo-Mudejar style.
The entire concrete work is externally treated with a covering of blocks of the same material with marked joints in imitation of rope and brand ashlars.
The metal superstructure, made up of a lattice box beam, supported a wooden flooring today replaced by a lattice where the motors that transmit power to the gears that support the gate lifting chains are located in protected booths.
From the beam structure, a bridge crane with a two-story wooden cabin protrudes outside the reservoir to house the operator in charge of operating the devices by which modules of metal beams are transported, which, stacked in slots parallel to those of the gates, , retain water and enable the separation of the aforementioned gates. This same mechanism is used to lift motor and gear housings.
The mechanical devices of this device are perfectly designed, taking into account use and function, with solutions full of ingenuity and meticulousness, which, in addition to its technical suitability, is full of artistic values. Its state of conservation is very good.
The Power Plant is a building also built with an aesthetic concern, with a domed roof of brick threads with turrets with a unique historicist and expressionist air, as well as with some details among which a balcony supported by an elephant's head stands out. The factory is treated with blocks like ashlars and the design of the foreign-made turbines, in use since their installation, is worth highlighting.
