"n act of vandalism, or simply a shame", these are the most repeated words to refer to what happened. And since a few days ago, the people of Lucerne and tourists have noticed that four of the nine sculptures of Galician writers, located on Calle Bispo Aguirre and on the side of Praza Maior, are missing noses.

The most affected sculpture is that of the writer and poet Ramón Otero Pedrayo, located on Calle Bispo Aguirre, although in this case it seems that he has lost his nose a long time ago. In return, someone left a piece of gum stuck in the middle of his face as a Band-Aid. "It's a lack of respect. This cannot be tolerated", say some of the passers-by when they see such a mess.

Far from ceasing, it seems that this type of falcatruada continues its course. The sculptures of Eduardo Pondal, Rosalía de Castro, Ramón María del Valle-Inclán and Manuel María also appeared without the tip of their nose. Of the five effigies in the Plaza de España, only the one of Afonso Rodríguez Castelo managed to survive what seems to be a peculiar curse. What is worth asking is why all poets are left without the tip of their nose.

"Marble is not easy to break", says a neighbor, but even so the damage is more than noticeable. There are many who attribute these acts of vandalism to the young people's nights out, but the name or names of the culprits remain a mystery.

However, tourists are least concerned about this incident. They continue to photograph themselves with the sculptures while trying, with great effort and little results, to translate the fragments of the poems engraved on each of the stones. As is logical, they agree with the neighbors that the ideal would be to fix the sculptures. But, "the problem is that these vandals can repeat their exploits at any time", they say.

Meanwhile, Álvaro Cunqueiro, Uxío Novoneyra and Curros Enríquez remain with their noses intact and established in Calle Bispo Aguirre, while in Praza Maior only the statue of Castelao resisted the attacks."
