Sobre esta fuente hay tres escudos, el de la izquierda pertenece a la ciudad de Guadix.

"El caño de Santa, está ubicado junto a la iglesia y en la plaza del mismo nombre. Este era el encargado de abastecer el agua en el arrabal y junto con el de San Antón (al otro lado de la ciudad) se encontraban en las zonas más periféricas de la ciudad medieval.

En este caso dispone de tres fuentes por donde el agua sale a través de las bocas de otros tantos mascarones en relieve que representan leones. Sobre cada una de ellas encontramos un escudo. Los caños vierten su agua a una pila construida en sillería. Todo el conjunto está enmarcado por una falsa arquitectura de tres pilastras de piedra con dintel y un frontón triangular en el centro".
