The Dalby House is a flatiron building located in the heart of downtown Elora. Construction was initially completed in 1865, with a further addition finished by 1870.
The building served as a hotel for over 90 years. Various businesses have since occupied the building, most recently a Medical Arts consortium.
In 2019 plans were announced that saw the restoration/renovation of the building to its original state, plus inclusion of condominium units on the second and third floors. The ground floor is now home to various businesses.
The keystone features the letters "AG" plus the date 1865. Instead of Anno Domini, the initials actually stand for Andrew Gordon, a co-financier of the building, along with Robert Dalby. The fanciful "Gordon's Block" was placed at Robert Gordon's expense, to the chagrin of Robert Dalby.
