"Según la tradición, la ermita se encuentra donde se apareció San José del Monte, dando nombre al pequeño oratorio que se construyó en dicho lugar.
Este hecho se conmemora en uno de los altares que lleva el nombre del santo. Posteriormente, a finales del siglo XVI (año 1557), ya en época santiaguista, la ermita pasó a estar dedicada a Santa Ana.
Situado en el barrio de La Coracha, el templo data de la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. Más tarde, en 1840, fue añadida la portada, con dintel y apilastrado clasicista.
Consta de una nave y cubierta de bóveda de cañón rebajada con lunetos y arcos fajones. Recientemente se le añadieron dos capillas.
El conjunto escultórico de Santa Ana con la Virgen Niña, de escuela antequerana, data de 1780, cercano al estilo de Antonio Palomo. Preside el retablo mayor, blanco y dorado, tallado en madera. También se hallan en el mismo retablo las imágenes de San Joaquín y San Judas Tadeo.
Destacamos en el templo la Virgen de las Angustias, imagen de una Piedad con Cristo en su regazo, atribuida al antequerano Diego Márquez, y que hace su estación de Penitencia el Lunes Santo. Está fechada en el último tercio del siglo XVIII.
En la ermita, además de piezas como las anteriormente citadas, se conservan bienes muebles tales como el púlpito de forja, que data del siglo XVII".

We highlight in the temple the Virgen de las Angustias, an image of a Pietà with Christ in her lap, attributed to Diego Márquez from Antequera, and which makes its Penitence season on Holy Monday. It is dated to the last third of the 18th century.
