EN: "This ethnographic legacy can be visited for free on the ground floor of the Multipurpose Building of the Concello de A Peroxa. It houses nearly 500 exhibition pieces, all of them made by this multifaceted character, whom some call “the Da Vinci of A Peroxa”, for his intelligence and creativity. A visit to the museum is like entering the rural world of the 20th century, learning about the different traditional crafts of the time through Lebre's machines and inventions.

Manuel Fernández Fernández, nicknamed "O Lebre das Casarizas", was born in the village of As Casarizas (A Peroxa) in 1906 and died in 1997. He was a true visionary with a rebellious spirit, a characteristic very well summarized in the famous phrase “ O Lebre querese libre” (El Lebre wants to be free). A true architect who stood out for his innovative capacity in the face of the challenges that the penetration of industrial capitalism brought to agriculture. He developed his most significant activity in the years before the Civil War and, after it, until the seventies.

Her nickname was inherited from her mother, because it was said that she was a very tall and beautiful woman, so she had many suitors who always wanted to accompany her. When she looked too compromised, she ran away... like a hare.

He stood out for being a great person, a friend of his friends, a worker, and a faithful believer in the unquestionable quality of life in the rural world, despite the harsh times in which he lived. In the basement of his house, he decides to install a forge-workshop that will be his center of operations for more than 50 years.

There he himself manufactures all the elements and all the tools he needs for the workshop (motorized lathe, chuck, grinder, cylinders, screws, nuts, etc.), as well as his own farming implements and those of his neighbors. He fixes watches, sewing machines, vehicles, etc. He takes engines and other components from old vehicles to fix new ones. He works as a dentist, blacksmith, stonemason, musician, transporter, watchmaker, mechanic, dowser, etc. And he dedicates himself to meshing the area, with his original mesh-cleaner.
