"Aprobado: Orden de 17 de junio de 1986, por la que se autoriza al ayuntamiento de Riogordo (Málaga) para adoptar su Escudo Heráldico. (BOJA 26/6/1986)

Descripción: Escudo de plata, puente de cuatro ojos, de azur, sostenido de ondas de azur y plata y en su centro una cruz latina de oro fileteada de sable, acompañada de un olivo y un moral de sinople. Al timbre, corona real cerrada.

Significado: El puente es el de origen medieval, hoy desaparecido,sobre el "río de las aguas gordas" que da nombre al municipio. La cruz simboliza la Semana Santa local, en la que participa todo el pueblo. El olivo es el árbol de la paz y el moral es símbolo de prudencia y sabiduría".

Description: Silver shield, four-eyed bridge, made of azure, supported by waves of azure and silver and in its center a gold Latin cross threaded with sable, accompanied by an olive tree and a sinople moral. At the buzzer, royal crown closed.

Meaning: The bridge is the one of medieval origin, now missing, over the "river of the fat waters" that gives its name to the municipality. The cross symbolizes the local Holy Week, in which the entire town participates. The olive tree is the tree of peace and the moral tree is a symbol of prudence and wisdom."
